Cyberlights CX at Vergina Theater in Thessaloniki

Few years ago, I was searching online for performances and in a picture of a musical which took place to Vergina Theater, in Regency Casino in the city of Thessaloniki, my eyes catched fixtures, I would never expect see still operating on a stage! The Cyberlights! I was quite impressed about this fact, which made me want to travel to Thessaloniki, just to see a performance with them, and maybe, if it would be possible, to talk with the lighting designer who still uses them. I was thinking that since they are still operating there, that person must take a good care of them, and I was right.

Then Covid happened, and I didn't had the chance to schedule a short trip to Thessaloniki for that reason. But, one of my colleagues who also works as sound engineer for one of our greatest signers here in Greece, happened to visit Vergina theater recently, as the artist had scheduled performances there.

So, I have asked him to take few close up pictures of the stage and the Cyberlights, but he, and the lighting designer did more than that! Some of the trusses got lowered down, so we can see that the fixtures are in a "out of the box" condition! Such a great surprise, as its almost so rare fact to see even fixtures of later generations being taken care of on such level!

This is the Cyberlight CX Litho model, which according to the "Litho" indication, all the gobos are the HD photographic quality patterns, a later version of the simple CX model, that I have seen used in the REX theatre in Athens, from 1993 - 1994, to 2003 approximately. The simpler CX version had simple patterns in metal gobos, apart from the dichroic rotating ones. The difference of the CX version, with the Turbo I have restored on 2019, is that there is no CMY color mixing system, no linear frost filter, and the zoom lens module can be manually mounted on three positions, depending of the desired angle.

I hope that in the future, I will be able to arrange a visit and see live how they are performing on the stage! You check out the photo gallery below, and read here my experience in restoring the Cyberlight Turbo & SV versions!
